After the time swimming in Lake Superior we headed north of Duluth about 45 minutes to Gooseberry Falls and then Split Rock Lighthouse.
At Gooseberry Falls the kids waded in some of the lower parts of the river and we hiked on a few of the trails. Mike proposed to me at these falls 11 years ago and at that time the whole river bed was dry and we walked across it. Much different this summer.
After Gooseberry we drove about 10 minute further to Split Rock Lighthouse. It was closing in about an hour so we didn't look around all that long but that was ok because Mike and I have been there before and alot of the buildings would have bored the kids. But we did climb to the top of the lighthouse and we were able to teach the kids the basics about lighthouses.
Next we went back into Duluth and found a mini golf course right on the shores of the lake in Superior WI.
After a late supper at Apple Bees, it was about 10:00pm when we got back to Tom's cabin for bed. It was a jam packed full day. But it was such a great day. The kids were in decent moods for the majority of the day which means Mike and I were too. And because of our free stay at the cabin, this whole day with all food and admissions and a souvenir Duluth sweatshirt for me only cost about $130!
