Bennett's 5 Month Weight
It's late so this is just a very quick post. I had a doctors appointment today and after I was weighed, I picked Bennett up and got back on the scale. At 5 months 1.5 weeks, he was almost 19 pounds! That is up a full 2 pounds since his 4 month appointment. I guess that's what happens with baby food twice a day!

Father's Day Twins Game/Weekend
This was a pretty busy weekend. Friday after work I went to get my hair cut. I'm calling it a summer haircut but who am I fooling, it's a Mommy Haircut. It is defiantly shorter and will take some time getting used to and figuring out how it looks best. Then, after I got home, Mike left to go up to MilleLacs Lake with a friend to learn how to kite-board on water. He does this on the snow every winter and you can do it on water also. I guess it wasn't windy though so he didn't get to actually kite at all but he did learn to wake-board instead which he said was awesome. For those of you who don't know, wake-boarding is like water-skiing only you are on a board somewhat like a snowboard. He said he got up his first try. So anyways he was gone until late Saturday night. So Saturday Bennett and I put some water in his little pool and enjoyed the afternoon outside. It's about 6 inches deep and he seemed to like it. He tipped over a few times though which he wasn't happy about. Yesterday we were also dealing with red spots all over his tummy and a few on his legs. There were so many that I was afraid it was chicken-pox since I didn't really know what they would look like. We still are not really sure what they are but they were much better today so I ruled out the pox. It may be bug bites or some sort of rash or reaction to something - just need to figure out to what.
Then, today after church we packed up and went to the Twins game for Father's Day. I was able to get seats 1 & 2 in the 4th row in the outfield. We were alittle worried about how Bennett would react but he was WONDERFUL! He fussed for about 30 seconds late in the 7th inning and then shortly after that he was sleeping. Like I thought, there was so much for him to look at that he didn't really get crabby at all. I was soooo impressed by him today. We actually had an older guy across the aisle from us tell us after the game what a good boy we had and that he didn't hear him once. After talking to him for a minute, he asked where we were from and then said, oh, I know where that is, we are from Plato. Anyways, Bennett slept the whole ride home and was very tired tonight and was in bed by 7:30. Oh yea - I made a Circle Me Bert sign but I don't think we got on TV - oh well it was worth a shot. Oh and the Twins made the game itself pretty boring and lost 4-1.
Also - I have a feeling that one of my future post within the next few weeks will have pictures of baby teeth! He chews on everything, drools constantly and his gums look and feel much different these days. Wish us luck with this.... :-)

"Meeting" Grandpa
So yesterday would have been my Dads 50th birthday! Boy wouldn't that have been a fun day! I had not taken Bennett out to the cemetery to "meet" Grandpa yet so I thought I would take him on Dad's birthday. But, since it was pouring rain last night we went tonight instead. I told Bennett how spoiled he would have been by his Grandpa - we all know that sure would have been true! Bennett left his mark - when I sat him down on the grass, he toppled over and his head landed right in the flowers and smushed a few of them. I'm sure Dad didn't mind though :-)
Also tonight he looked like such a big boy sitting in this chair. This was actually my chair when I was a little girl. David fixed it up, gave it a fresh coat of stain and gave it to me at my baby shower before Bennett was born. He looked so grown up sitting in there! Kind of neat that he is using something that I once sat in too.

5 Months
Sigh... another weekend already done! Looks like it's been awhile since I've posted so I'll try to get you up to date quick.
Last Sunday was a very busy day for us. We went to a pancake breakfast in NG, then to church at Mayer for Gabriel's baptism, then to Chris & Christina's for baptism lunch, then to Mike's uncle Mikes for an early supper with his family. And, Bennett was extremely good this entire day! It was fun to see Gabriel & Bennett start to smile at each other. They were giving each other high-fives which was fun to watch....(ok, so Chris & I were moving their hands to do it but it was still funny...for us parents at least). Anyways, then on to Mike & Trace's. Mike's family was there and it was the first time that Bennett got to meet his Aunt Nichol. She is home from Kansas for a few weeks. She was home at Christmas time hoping to meet him then but we all know how that turned out. Here is a cute picture of the two of them and also a family pic.
Bennett & Nichol
Mike, Bennett, Rachel, LeAnn, Nichol, Devon & Sarah
This past Friday Bennett turned 5 months old! He really has taken off this past week and is sitting by himself really well. The past two nights I've let him "sit" in the bathtub. I joked with Mike tonight that we need to install some bumper padding on the sides of the tub for when he starts to tip - (it's amazing how fast my reflexes & reaction time is these days when I know he's about to tip & he'd hurt himself if I didn't catch him). I also let him sit on the church pew today which was weird for me - my little boy is growing up. A side note - it always kind of annoyed me in church when parents had their little kids constantly looking at the people behind them. All you do then is look at the baby or get annoyed by the parents and I feel like you never really pay attention to church. But, I have to say I am one of them now. He will not sit still and needs to be standing or looking at something. So, I am now one of those parents.
He has also started eating baby food twice a day now and is doing a really good job at it. He opens his mouth for the spoon now instead of me forcing the spoon in. Last weekend I bought him a high-chair. We were at mom's and I told David the box was in the back of my car if he wanted to put it together. He opened the box and was pretty shocked at how many pieces & parts there were. And I said "exactly, Mike will appreciate you doing this :-)". Here is a picture of him eating from his high-chair.

Swinging Time
Mike's sister Nichol gave us a gift card to Target this spring for Bennett's baby present. This was perfect cause I had wanted to get him this swing that I saw and now I had some money to do this - thanks Nic. My younger siblings had this exact swing only in red. It was in the barn aisle so that they could be by my parents while they milked cows. Anyways, Mike hung it from a tree and tonight I took Bennett outside to swing in it for the first time. He looked like he was having fun - all smiley - so I quick ran inside to get the camera and of course when I get back out I couldn't get him to smile much for me. But, the pictures are still cute even without smiles. We didn't stay out for too long though cause it was pretty chilly this evening.

Also - I have to tell you, Bennett (knock on wood) may have figured out how to sleep nights!!! He has slept 4 nights straight now. He's in bed about 8:30 most nights and sleeps till some time in the 6:00 hour, when I then move him to our bed where he usually falls back to sleep for another hour or more. He wakes around 8:00 - almost 12 hours! On Wednesday morning though he slept till 9:15 when I finally had to wake him so that we could get moving so I could get to work. It has been great and I hope it can continue for awhile.
